På International Office har vi, under årets början, välkomnat två nya kollegor, Sara Mejia Lagergren och Sara Lemieux, som bland annat ska arbeta med universitetets satsning på att öka antalet internationella studenter. Sara M och Sara L kommer arbeta med rekryteringssatsningar och stödja de internationella studenterna genom hela processen.

Webbinarium om forskningsprojekt inom ansvarsfull internationalisering
I detta webbinarium presenterar vi två forskningsprojekt som finansieras av STINT inom utlysningen Grants for Internationalisation Research: Responsible Internationalisation.
STINTs utlysning syftar till att skapa ny kunskap om hur högre utbildning och forskning kan internationaliseras på ett ansvarsfullt och hållbart sätt. I en tid av komplexa internationella relationer är det avgörande att förstå hur samarbeten byggs och förvaltas för att lösa de etiska och praktiska utmaningar vi ställs inför.
Projekten leds av Christer Ljungwall, Chalmers, respektive Tommy Shih, Lunds universitet, och kommer att pågå minst under två år. De två projekten utforskar bland annat frågor om strategiska val inom internationalisering, ansvar inom lärosäten och hur största möjliga öppenhet i internationellt akademiskt samarbete kan upprätthållas även under geopolitiskt spända förhållanden. Fokus är på tillämpningsbar kunskap och bästa praxis.
Webbinariet inleds med en introduktion till utlysningen och dess mål, följt av en genomgång av forskningsprojekten.

SASUF nätverket förbereder inför nästkommande programperiod SASUF 2025-2028 och den STINT-ansökan som ska skickas in. SASUF har ett starkt ”student network” och nu efterlyser vi studenter från Kau som skulle vara intresserade av att bli studentrepresentanter. I och med att SASUF står inför en ny programperiod kan detta vara ett bra tillfälle att komma in som ny studentrepresentant och få en god chans att sätta prägel utifrån sina egna intressen. Den nya ansökan till STINT innehåller exempelvis ett work package som handlar om ”students as changemakers”.

SANORD Southern African – Nordic Centre
The call for abstracts for the SANORD 2025 Conference is now open! Hosted by Aarhus University, Denmark, August 13-15, 2025, this conference promises to be a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration under the overarching theme of "Knowledge Economies in a Changing World."
The conference will explore decolonial perspectives, sustainability, and innovation in Africa-Europe partnerships. Panels will focus on research, education, technology, creative economies, environmental resilience, water management, and community-driven global health solutions to foster equitable and functional futures: Panels
As one of 55 member universities, Karlstad University invites you to submit your abstract via the online portal on the conference website by March 1, 2025. Call For Seed Funding from the STINT Grant
As per the grant awarded by STINT, MIRAI 2024-2026 is launching a call for seed funding to support promising research collaborative initiatives. The objective is to encourage further development of existing and new collaborations between MIRAI member universities based on innovative projects and new ideas.

Compostela Group of Universities
Research Pitches Contest
The Compostela Group of Universities (CGU) aims to contribute to the policies developed by the member higher education institutions to promote the dissemination of their research activity with this competition. Through the research pitches contest, we foster:
- The dissemination of research among the member universities and society in general.
- The emergence of funding opportunities.
- The contact with other research groups that carry out similar research.
- The attraction of doctoral students interested in these lines of research.
Researchers from the CGU member universities have the opportunity to participate each year in this permanent activity. To do so, they must present a pitch, that is, an audiovisual presentation in which they briefly introduce the key aspects of their research.
The Compostela Group of Universities will recognise those pitches that best adapt their message to the general public, and transmit the relevance of their research and their contribution to society.
Deadline for the submission of applications. 31 March 2025 (12:00 PM – noon. Peninsular Spanish time)

The SASUF network is preparing for the next program period, SASUF 2025-2028, and the STINT application that will be submitted. SASUF has a strong "student network" and we are now looking for students from Kau who would be interested in becoming student representatives. Since SASUF is facing a new program period, this could be a good opportunity to join as a new student representative and get a good chance to make an impact based on your own interests. The new application to STINT includes, for example, a work package entitled "students as changemakers".
